42 days to the start of the 2016 Grand to Grand Ultra…
I’m dedicating my participation in the Grand to Grand Ultra to the work of the END Fund in supporting children and adults suffering from the five most common neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).
NTDs are a group of diseases affecting 1.5 billion people globally and, as the name suggests, affect the most neglected and impoverished people. These diseases cause severe pain, long-term disability, and death, while decreasing children’s attendance in school and contributing to extreme poverty.
The good news is that these diseases are both treatable and preventable!
For only $40 a locally trained physician can perform sight-saving surgery for people suffering from Trachoma. Just 50 cents per person per year funds the delivery of medicine to treat the most common NTDs. Education on healthy lifestyles and access to clean water prevent NTDs from spreading even further.
That is why I am dedicating the personal challenge of completing the 273km Grand to Grand Ultra to raise both awareness and funds for people suffering from these diseases in Africa.
Your donation can help accomplish:
- $25 helps treat 50 people at risk of NTDs for one year
- $40 can support one essential eye surgery to prevent blindness from trachoma
- $100 helps treat 200 people at risk of NTDs for one year
- $250 helps treat 500 people at risk of NTDs for one year
- $500 helps treat 1 000 people at risk for NTDs for one year
I invite you to support my fundraising campaign and encourage others to do the same.
